One of the very unpleasant distresses that can occur to a dog is dog mange. It is transferable and recurring with itchy skin symptoms in dogs. It is caused by parasitic mites known as dog mites which penetrate under the skin of the dogs. Dog mange can be deadly if not treated as soon as it is detected.
The signs and symptoms of dog mange include blisters, sores, irritating skin odor, dry and wrinkled skin and crusty scales. Identifying itch from dog mange may be a little bit difficult because dogs also have an instinct of itching the body but if it itches more than usual then, then it may be a sign of dog mange. Check the hair of your dog in order to be aware of its hair loss as this is also a very common symptom. Also, if with hair loss, your dog has sores and red blisters on it then check the body for dog mites.
There are several home treatments that can be used to treat and relieve your dog from these symptoms of dog mange. The first thing that is recommended is that you should always give your dog a good and regular bathe, irrespective of, if it is already affected or not. This can always be of help to prevent any further infections and also to maintain a good hygiene. This bathing will help remove flaky and dead skin. Then, always give it herbal supplements like Astragalus, Araginogalactus and Echinacea in order to improve the immune system of your dog.
In addition, there are effective topical remedies. Aloe Vera, tea tree oil or Vitamin E can be administered to the skin of your dog directly. This will greatly relieve the dog from the pains of dog mange and also help kill dog mites. Meanwhile, you don’t have to just apply any topical treatments on the skin of your dog; some of these topical drugs can be toxic. This will not benefit your dog but harm it.
Since dog mites are found under the skin of the dog while causing pain on it through dog mange, then the best you can do to treat and eradicate this disease is to get rid of dog mites present in the skin of your dog. This is very easy as you just have to keep applying petroleum jelly on the affected area intermittently. This kills the dog mites by suffocation. This is the best way to eradicate dog mange in your household.
As said earlier, this disease is transferrable and so, take care of all other pets. This is because, if one of them has dog mange and plays around with others, then it is most likely they are also affected by this disease. Whenever you notice this disease, it is better you take action immediately as dog mange can cause serious damage to the skin of your pets.
Home remedies are very important in treating dog mange in dogs. So, endeavour to implement these non toxic treatments in your household. Bye!
